The tracks are varied but basically cover all the albums. Seems a bit of a waste really, they did'nt fill up the disc for whatever reason and the Years has already been out for quite some time now. With INXS' reputation for videos an anthological double DVD release would have seemed more appropriate but money is money for Univeral records :). But I'm sure many fans here are interested....the full details are on inxs.com front page. This disc, the new single/s/album and the reissue of the improved LBL concert will fry the collective sound systems of many hard core INXS fans in the coming months. I think Kick sounded the best of the three. It sounded great on my car stereo system. Nice highs and lows! Karen -- From: "Michael & Sherrianne Talon" To: Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2003 1:48 AM Subject: Re: INXS: Are the remasters worth it? I'd say the sound quality is remarkably good mathced up against the original digital version. It's the extra songs though that don't really improve the albums as much......with Kick you have the underdone yet competent version of Mystify which sounds eerily ghost like now. Jesus was a Man is clearly underproduced from Michael's point of view (this song could be improved ten fold and even be a single off one of the later albums), I've only heard him sound worse on one occasion and that was when he evidently had a pretty bad throat infection (mind you he improves markedly the longer the songs goes). And what's worse the great song Move On is not the longer and super.. version that was a b-side during the Kick era. . the informally monikered banjo version. As even the band mentions, The Trap (demo) did not make the album cause they already had the very simi.. Tiny Daggers. X on the other hand has Deepest Red and Waiting to be Free which are truly finished works, it's interesting to hear demoes but that's all, it's not something that you will listen to more than the polished studio cuts. Welcome has nothing new on it with the Indian Song being a compilation of Questions, Answers and Not Enough Time. All Around II has that great 60's groove thing happening but compared to track 6 it does not fit into the albums loose but still organised sound scheme. The biggest disappointment is that the song Tight was remixed for one thing and than put on the smattering of confused compilation releases, as it's sound definitely belongs on the Welcome album. Overall the 18 track Japanese Special Edition of Kick is still the best version of Kick ever released even with the minor shortcomings in sound quality. This is probably more of an audiophile question than anything else. I've heard the bonus songs on all the Rhino re-issues and I'm not really intersted in getting the "new" albums because of those. However, it is my understanding that they also remastered the tracks. How good is the redub? Are the songs any clearer than off of the original CDs? Is it worth $10 if I find it used? Davy From: "Michael & Sherrianne Talon" To: Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2003 3:40 AM Subject: Re: INXS: Are the remasters worth it? The remastering is evident, ie you will hear a difference if you listen to a song from the original and than listen to the same song on the reissue. Strangely there was more of a difference to me on the Welcome album than the others.....of course it's my fave album of those three so that is maybe why. You will pick up that some of the instruments now seem mixed higher as well, where on the original you may not have noticed the peripheral percussion or muted guitars, on the reissues you will. Also the "reverb" of instruments may appear more independent. Having said that, it's not like you can throw the originals out after hearing the reissue. When I go to grab a CD out of the cabinet it's not like I go out of my way to pick out the reissue over the original :). And on a more (non-audio) petty point they changed the art work on the sleeves and CDs etc and well that is an unimprovement. The songs where enjoyment was improved "greatly" by the upgrade in quality, "*personally*" were Back On Line, Strange Desire, The Loved One, Kick, Questions. I'd listen to a few more opinions before deciding whether to part with $10 for any of the discs or throwing it all on a horse. For those who may not know, BBC6 is a digital radio channel not a TV station. If anyone is able to get this onto CD I'd love to hear from you. INXS will release I Get Up as a CD single on Nov 11 and an album immediately following on Nov 17 entitled "Squared" through Universal Records. This (Squared) is a subtle way of saying INXS2 as in INXS mk II.....if one were to "fantasize" it might even suggest a double album. As I said it is "*UNOFFICIAL*" right now and has not been confirmed by anybody but the dudes at Chaos and indeed is contrary to everything the officials have said thus far on INXS.com.......they usually get dates wrong anyhow but they usually err in the opposite direction. They have previously said on more than one occasion that the new album would be released First Quarter of 2004. MkickT From: "Michael & Sherrianne Talon" To: Sent: Friday, September 19, 2003 5:51 PM Subject: Re: INXS: UNOFFICIAL NEW INXS ALBUM RELEASED NOV More information, apparently there is a new INXS album but it is not the new album they have been working on with Jon Stevens. Whatever that means. (could be anything..... b-sides, unreleased stuff, compilation (GOD FORBID ANOTHER ONE LOL ) ) So the release date for the new INXS album with JS is still first quarter of 2004, all very confusing the INXS album releases after 1997. And in a interview in Portugal (when they played here last July) Kirk and Jon F told that a new album would be released in 2004. Don't see much reason for them to be undercovering the release date. In the Phoenix Republic today 9/22/03 According to a recent Sunday Times of London report,Ewan McGregor has recorded a rap song. McGegor, who proved that he could carry a tune in the Oscar-nominated Moulin Rouge!,makes mention in the rap song of the demise of several stars, including Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Michael Hutchence of INXS. The lyrics were written by Simon Boswell. May the force be with them. No more details were given. I can't imagine Ewan rapping but it will be interesting to hear what he says.
