I would've preferred that the bonus tracks be added maybe more appropriately to the Anthology package as a bonus CD. The Anthology was always going to be a die-hard fan purchase, and a bit of a reward for our devotion and loyalty. I can understand re-master releases, as quality has been improved on with CDs since the 80's ( and I can only guess the albums prior to these will follow in the near future ), therefore adding the bonus tracks on Kick and X I can accept as not only is the original sound quality improved upon, but you get a bit more too with the added tracks. Surely though, the technology when WTWYA was as cutting edge as it is now and I'm not sure I condone a re-master/re-packaging of WTWYA. What next, a re-master of EW ????? In a nutshell I'd probably have preferred a release in the guise of a CD album of b-sides/outtakes from INXS through to EW. So the extra tracks are just a bonus to all of us who are buying it again and i'm sure that some people who didn't have those cd's(not only fans) will take the chance and will get them. What i don't agree is the way that management is taking the promotion issues, if INXS was successfull worldwide why on earth do they only release this stuff in America, because for what i know Rhino just has the rights to release INXS in America, i know they have(had) a different label in Europe and other territories till 1994, but wasn't it all Polygram by 1997, i think this releases, speccially the best of should be released worldwide, speccially Europe who has been the most supportive side of the world to INXS in the 90's. It's going to be like the anthology, over here everybody thinks that INXS has ended, no one has heard about the anthology. Surely not. Then of course the obligatory bonus track on the Japanese edition....for which they will have to produce an 84 minute recordable cd. To me these CDs are not designed with fans in mind they are designed for fans yet to come. Back catalogue sales are INXS' primary source of income, 14.5 million albums in the US alone, this tour ain't so much about about selling the "New" Best of cd as it is about selling Kick!, X and Welcome etc. It's about generating some air play on the radio which for most radio stations means track 4 of Kick. As for format, well digital is digital any supposed improvement is vague LOL, analogue now that's a different story, it seems where "learning the primitive rites". Pretty soon all DVDs or their equivelant will carry not just all the videos, interviews etc but will also play the tracks independently with better quality (vague) then any of the CD's. I just hope INXS does not go the way of Deep Purple etc and releases a repackaged Greatest Hits every year, it's music, it's not Microsoft...so Where do we actually want to go today?. As for the Best Of CD I would also have something from Jon Stevens on there, for example the intro that they created for the song Time should start the album of and bleed straight into Need You Tonight, and on various parts of the record have other interspersions much like on Live Baby Live, just less quirksome. It would be like this is what was, and now this is likely what is. It would be like introducing Jon Stevens to America etc. It seems INXS are conservative about their chances of success without Michael. I guess that's fair enough. Booh!!!! Hope I didn't scare no one. As I posted on the INXS.com message board, here's what I wrote concerning some more 30 second samples they have made available from the reissue of Kick. Firstly the demo of Mystify, very haunting treatment with just the synth and Michael, reminds me of the Movie mix of By My Side. It is probably more pure then the actual final version on Kick, and probably does more justice to Chicago if you catch my "drift". And the part where Michael stumbles as it were on "leaving broken...............hearts behind" is beyond artistry, it's almost freaky how he was able to find these little ploys of accentuation through his vocal treatment of his lyrics. The Trap, I don't mind the song, but like Andrew says Tiny Daggers is pretty similiar. With this song however being less produced (polished) then Tiny Daggers it has bigger accents and decents. One they should consider doing live for their "world" tour I think. Just like Tiny Daggers it is very Rolling Stoneish as well. A big round of applause to all who have been hitting the site to get them where they are but we have to keep plugging away and keep them there and rightfully so!! I mean there is a lot of garbage listed ahead of them, but to each their own, let's keep pounding away at pollstar and make sure they remain in a proper position after all they are the greatest R&B band to grace the stage, and from what I have read of the shows prior to them going into the studio for rehearsals they have been nothing short of spectacular,I believe all of us who are going to at least one of the shows are in for a very pleasant surprise!!Till next time, take care & God Bless. Peace & Love Bonnie & Joe P.S. It takes but a minute to link on to pollstar.com and type in INXS Thanks a Bunch!!! I will however try my hardest to get some decent seats for the Jersey & NY shows.Till next time take care & God Bless. Love & Peace, Joe P.S. Anyone have any clue as to which group will open/close for the Simple Minds/INXS shows.
