Yates began legal action last year over the book's claims that she deliberately became pregnant with the couple's daughter, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, to trap Hutchence then created a story about receiving fertility treatment to cover it up. The publishers of a Hutchence biography written by Vincent Lovegrove apologized unreservedly to Yates in the New South Wales Supreme Court and agreed to pay her an undisclosed sum, according to the Australian Associated Press news agency. Counsel for Allen and Unwin accepted the falsehood of the allegations and apologized unreservedly for any ``distress and embarrassment.'' Yates was not in court, but outside her lawyer Adam Simpson told reporters that her main concern was establishing that Tiger Lily was a wanted child. ``It's very important as you can imagine having one's child growing up in the belief that they were wanted,'' he told reporters. Wasn't the ONE Michael Hutchence Behind the Music supposed to be aired at 3pm EST on June 8th? If I didn't write it down wrong, then Michael must have done a complete identity change, had plastic radical surgery and changed his name to Vanilla Ice, cuz that's what was on. Can anyone clarify this for me? If I did write it down correctly and M.H. BTM was supposed to be aired, then VH1 did it AGAIN! Failed to come through for the fans, and I will feel compelled to send them a nasty email, because this has really p'd me off! I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that Michael Hutchence's 20+ years with INXS as a fantastic musician/performer in a fantastic band, deserves to be aired more than a couple of times, as opposed to Vanilla Ice's moment at the top, as a one hit wonder, and other BTM's being aired over and over. I just don't get it. Doesn't years and years of quality, dedication to each other and great music, millions of fans, a band that could go the distance and keep all of it's original members the entire time, a front man who could put on a great show, control the audience and do it all with such charisma and flare count for anything anymore? This is a show the fans want to see and they won't let us see it, now that they finally made it.........make sense to anyone out there? There is an editorial in the new issue of The Big Takeover on the BTM shows that hits the nail on the head. One line from the editorial sums it up pretty well: "They take something with real meaning, like the life and work of a musician, and they turn it into crap". As well as "With VH-1's money and resources, this could have been a great series, instead it's just an empty lunchbox, devoid of sentiment and meaning". The entire editorial is really good and i'm only scratching the surface of some of the points raised about the show. First off, my apologies at that last message -- quick trigger finger today I guess. Anyway, the band has not yet released anything on DVD, but that easily change in the next year. There are many places to purchase INXS videos: 1) CDnow 2) Amazon.com 3) ebay.com are just three locations where videos appear often. And yes, Live Baby Live was released on video. It was dream gig as I was fortunate enough to shake Michael's hand and to obtain the words to Disappear from his monitor. I also got one of Tim's plectrums and one of Jon's sweat bands (which still smells!!). My favourite INXS tunes are Don't change, Not enough time and Lately. Firstly Russell Crowe won't be playing Michael in any official INXS movie, that was just a rumor from a magazine about a year ago. As for Heath he is tagged the next Mel Gibson all the time here in Australia. He actually plays Mel Gibson's son in 'the Patriot' which is out on July 20th here. I liked '10 things...' the soundtrack is cool as well. You can also see him in the film 'Two Hands', which is a fantastic Australian film, that won film of the year last year. It's now available in America on video. Anyone who has been to Sydney you will recognise alot of the places in the film. He has long brown hair in that film as well, but he usually has blonde hair, and last time I saw him in November at the AFI Awards it was rather short. So he looked nothing like Michael then. But he's probably Australia's best new actor so you will see a lot more of him, he lives over in L.A. these days anyway. Jay -------------------------------- Good evening! TunnelRecords used to be an online recordstore. They were renowned for their fraudulent practices/ ripp offs/ failing deliveries. I'm more then happy to tell you Tunnel Records is down. Today vice president Andrew Paul Castle announced they will no longer be able to maintain their IndexTheWeb/TunnelRecords site. A couple of months ago I started an online "campaign" against this company. I received a lot of threats, they know where I live. I had pictures of me removed from the net, as I "liked to keep some mystery between us" ;-) Three Hotmail accounts of mine were spammed and therefore useless. Anyway they're gone. I don't want to take credit for their downfall but I just wanted to say it's possible "to strike back". Rip-offs should be reported immediately on lists and newsgroups. Last night on Sydney radio station MMM, I listened to an interview with Garry Beers and two songs recorded at the Sydney Metro concert, which were Taste It and Kick. I was lucky enough to be at the concert and it was really good to hear some songs played over the radio. It was very interesting as Garry said that the first concert down in Melbourne was actually going to be their last and then they would then call it quits. But, as it went so well, they then went and did another in their home town Sydney. He also said that even after three years of not doing a full INXS set, they all just got up there and clicked together, doing what they do best and really enjoying it. There was no word on whether Jon Stevens would become more permanent, but said that Jon did a fantastic job and actually made less mistakes than the rest of the band. Not that it mattered as the audience singing along corrected him. When asked if there is any more plans on the horizon, Garry replied that they are all just now getting used to the idea of the possibility of doing some more stuff in the future. By the way, just saw Face/Off for the first time and I couldn't help but think how pitifully used Don't Lose Your Head was....all 5 seconds of it. Lyrically it was on cue, but they could have found a better "visual with audio" situation. Basically it was a little short. (LOL) Off course it was nice to hear it in its entirety at the end of what was a very violent film (in the mainstream wave). I also heard that cover of Don't Change and, it wasn't exactly to taste.....however at least whoever the artists were they didn't just redo the song exactly as INXS had done it. There is a very notable difference in style....while still preserving the mechanics of what A Farriss and M Hutchence had originally created. Anybody else think the same or otherwise? A cartoon? Well I could see INXS add the sound track to a cartoon or some cartoons (instrumentally) but I couldn't see them do a cartoon with them in it.....if you know what I mean. That's something you'd do back in 89 if you wanted to try and sell something else other then the music........(which was selling quite nicely right then wasn't it.) Meep Meep thhhhat's all folks! Michael Talon A soothing sound laps over me, like a wave from the south.. all the stars colliding in the sky, a kaleidoscope of ryhthm you can see it if you try. A countdown to collision, you can turnaway or you can be a part of the decision. Open your mind for a split single second, that's about all it would take don't you reckon.....? So now I've got two weeks off to catch up on all the INXS I've missed for the last few months. Has anyone heard the song INXS have recorded for the Sydney Olympics album??? Jon Stevens has recorded a song for it too, and the singel was released, but I haven't actually seen (or even heard) much about the actual album! But then again, I've been pretty much living under a rock for the last couple of months at uni. Well I've not only got a lot of INXS to catch up on, but lots of sleep, so I'll leave it at that. When I'm done there, I'm doing a Bachelor of Education (secondary) and after 18 months of that will hopefully be a HPE teacher. Also working part time at the local supermarket (BILO) in many different departments, to help get thru uni. See Myself In Ten Years: Ummm..... getting back from a two/three year stint teaching over in the UK, or perhaps even staying over there???? How I Got Into INXS: I really don't know, I had always heard there music, but it wasn't until Elegantly Wasted that I really got into them, it was the first of their albums I bought shortly after MH passed away. Other Music: Anything really, especially Aussie acts, Mark Lizotte, Killing Heidi, Alex Lloyd, Superjesus, Taxiride, Madison Avenue, Lo-tel, I could go on forever (oz music rocks) and also Matchbox Twenty, Live, No Doubt, again the list is endless. Other hobbies: played soccer since I was about 5 or 6, and like any outdoor-sy activities, or indoors, indoor rockclimbing is the best. Going to the beach. Freaky Fact: I have an identical twin brother called Mike (m&m lol) Fave story: Well it's not a fave, more of something I think about now and then. At High School, Mike always used to do well at athletics and such, winning gold medals and stuff, and I never used to do well at all, then in my final year, I was House Captain, and I had a really good HPE teacher, and we had to do athletics for PE, and pick two events to compete in on athletics day, as our mark for the subject, I picked triple jump and some short sprint race. Anyway, with Mr Milfull's help I trained my butt off, and on the day, I came second in triple jump (to Mike!!!!!) but got an A for the length I jumped, and then in the 100m I came first, and broke the school record for that event. That day I also broke another school record for the 400m sprint. No doubt I got an A for athletics. I ended up getting age champion of Athletics Day, a title that Miek ALWAYS used to get. But that's not what I always think about, since I did so well I was picked to represent the school at the Rockhampton District trials where a team would be picked to represent Central Queensland at the Queensland titles. The night b4 the trials I played soccer and got kicked in the thigh, and suffered a corked thigh. I still went to the first day of trials, and made the finals for one event, but I ended up pulling out. I still wonder, had I not played soccer the night b4, how far I could have really gone in athletics. Okay, I'll stop now, someone else's turn. I wasn't sure what other stuff could be included in the 'factfile' so feel free to add different headings if you want. Michael was always hot, but it was the band as a whole and all about the music, lyrics and Michaels voice in X that just really hit me with something extra that I seemed to identify with. OTHER MUSIC: I like it all with Country and Folk being my least favorite style's. ALL time fav's are of course INXS and U2, but some other artists/bands that I enjoy are Recent bands/artists: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, STP, Beth Hart, The Nixons, Collective Soul, Black Crowes, Bush, Candlebox, Nickleback, Live, Creed, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Cracker, Nine Inch Nails, Shannon Curfman, Garbage, Matchbox Twenty, Nirvana, Candlebox, Sheryl Crow, Fionna Apple, Bare Naked Ladies, R.E.M., Brian Setzer Orchestra, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Melissa Ethridge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, Cat Power Luscious Jackson, etc...... Duran Duran, KD Lang, Madonna, Billy Holiday, Harry Connick Jr., Miles Davis, Fairground Attraction, Mozart, .....and on and on...... OTHER HOBBIES: Art (drawing/painting), literature, writing, fashion and ALL sports (watching and playing) and HiFi Stereo Equipment for all my favorite tunes. I grew up as a true Texas cowgirl with the horses, rodeo and yeehaw life. My parents still own horses and I am currently teaching my daughter how to rope (swing a lariet). FREAKY FACT: When I was in the 6th grade I was running from the choir room to the gym - you know the picture - legs extended - arms pumping and I jabbed the middle of my ear with the pencil I was holding in my left hand. The little lead spot is still in my left ear. okay......i know....... that was more like a stoop - o - fact than a freaky fact, but I do get kind of freaky about someone noticing the black spot in my ear. FAVE STORY: Not sure I have one particular favorite story, but here is a story that while sad ......it also gives me a pretty big smile. I had a Jack Russel Terrier for the past 11 years. His name was Levi and he lived with my Mom and Dad roaming all the land freely and owning the 9 acres that my parents live on. About 6 months ago (maybe longer?) I get a call on a Sunday morning from my niece. She said that Levi was bleeding, Nana (my mother) was leaving for church and I better come over to check him out. He was bleeding pretty bad just under his right front leg, so, I wrapped him up in a towel and off we went (my sister, my neice, my daughter and myself) to the emergency vet clinic. I take him in by myself, meet with the vet and unwrap the towel to look at the wound. There was about a 1 and 1/2 " hole in diameter with blood oozing and pumping out just like the beat of his heart. The vet immediately took him and I sat down and waited. She came back to tell me that the hole was very infected and Levi didn't even have a 20% chance of making it through the surgery that was going to cost me over a grand. I'm not one to choose giving up on a life - so I asked her if I could have a few minutes to think about it since I was so unprepared and I did not go to that clinic expecting to have to put my dog down. I'm sitting in this tiny room and I start to get real hot and claustraphobic. So, I stand up, open the door and look down the hallway for maybe a bathroom ? This was a Sunday morning with no receptionist - I am in grunge clothes and all of the front office is dark and there is only 1 vet and 1 assistant on duty and they are in the back looking after my baby. Well, As soon as I opened the door and looked down the hall I totally passed out cold and hit the floor from a standing position flat on my face. So here I lay, spread out all on the floor, in the dark and no one knows it. I'm not sure how long I was laying there before the assistant finally came through the door and saw me trying to sit up. She goes and gets me a cold rag and some water and eventually I am able to get up. I talked again with the vet and she and I both agreed that with consideration to the suffering he was going through and all the strain and suffering the surgery would put him through as well as many other issues..... that we should put him to sleep. I asked her if she wouldn't mind bringing him back to the little room so I could go get my daughter, neice and sister so we could see him and talk with him again one last time. I went back later that day and picked him up so I could bring him home to bury him. Quite the trauma for one day, but I just can't help but look back and laugh at how I passed out at the vet. I never knew I had such a weak stomach when it came to blood and I am sure the stress of the situation didn't help either, but just the picture in my mind of me laying face down in the middle of that floor....half out in the hallway and the other half in that little room, complete darkenss and no one knew! We never did figure out or know what got Levi....our best guesses were a maybe larger neighbor dog, but more than likely it was a possum or a coyote. I do miss Levi very much, but the best part is all the great memories with that little dog. He brought so many smiles to my life and he had such a wonderful life with me and my family. All of us share stories about him all the time. His spirit is still alive in us. smile here enjoyed the fact chat! shine on!!!! I think my last post to the list was way back in '96 or so. I used to run "the INXS fanzine" - original name eh?! from about 92-96 until finishing university, getting a job, getting engaged, stuff like that distracted me. I was thinking of putting the old fanzine issues on-line at some point, if there was enough interest? What do you think? Apart from that, in '97 I met the guys after the show in Aberdeen, Scotland (fantastic show) - And also saw them the night before in Glasgow, (Small venue, over-crowded, hot and sweaty - the way and INXS gig should be!) My impression on meeting INXS - They are so small... I mean, I'm not a giant (5foot 8inches) and would normally expect to be towered over by most, but not when I met them. I had a brief talk with Mike, Kirk and Andrew and got my EW promo signed by all. At one point my brother (more stupidity than sense) asked Kirk if he was "getting to old for this game?" - his reply - "Never mate, I love it" and had a it of a laugh with us. - I also asked Mike when his album was coming out and his reply "Next year I hope...." and talked about it a little. Anyway, It's good to be back on the list. Fraser. From: To: "Multiple recipients of INXS-List" Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2000 7:11 PM Subject: INXS: Re: Another back online. What more can be said except: He da man. I really liked the duet with Natalie Imbruglia for "Never Tear Us Apart". It was almost tone for tone exactly what it needed to be. The only part that will take some getting used to is the single line "I'd make wine from your tears." Much as I love Tom, I think he misses the mark on that one line. VOTW: Cut Your Roses Down - I still think if INXS had released this video and song, FMDH would have sold more copies and gotten more exposure. I love the way the video unfolds, and I agree, Michael, there is some kind of a crackling record loop throughout the track (which I love). --------------------------- Profile: Name: Jay Rawding Age: 24 Live: Smalltown of Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada, pop.: 4000 Station in life: Currently employed at IBM for over a year and a half. Dispatch/customer service. See myself in ten years: Still chronically single, lamenting love lost, but by this point I have moved to the United States, the land of opportunity, doing something fun for a living. How I got into INXS: First INXS song I heard was on one of those year-end best-of countdowns, they played "Good Times" from the Lost Boys soundtrack. I thought it was okay. But then a short time later "Kick" was released, and after seeing the video for "New Sensation" and after "Need You Tonight" finished in the top 3 year end Canadian singles chart, I was hooked. I didn't realize how hooked I was until it was the week "Welcome to Wherever You Are" was to be released, and I videotaped every news blurb or interview about it on television, then sat by the radio the day it was released and waited for two hours for them to broadcast the album. People often ask me: why INXS? Well, if you get right down to it, in the whole INXS canon, there aren't many of their songs I don't like. This goes a long way when deciding who your favourite band is. Other music: Tom Waits, R.E.M., Beck, Louis Armstrong, Smashing Pumpkins, Crowded House, Pet Shop Boys, Barenaked Ladies, U2, Black Crowes, Moxy Fruvous, Jewel, Moby, Nirvana, Annie Lennox, George Michael, Sting & the Police, the Tragically Hip, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Beach Boys Other hobbies: I like writing. Doing theatre-related things (acting, producing, right now I'm currently directing a play that's going on third week of August). Collecting obscure 80s cassettes at yard sales and record stores (I now have over 500). I also love movies and if I really love a TV show enough, I tape as many episodes of it as I can. Fave sports are basketball and hockey, both playing and watching. Freaky fact: Hmm. Freaky fact. I once threw a party in my room in university and consumed a quart of vodka in 35 minutes. At one point during the evening's festivities, I slid down two stairs, and then got right back up and kept on dancing and partying for several more hours. The next day, it turns out the foot was broken, my ligaments had been completely torn. I hadn't even noticed. Fave story: Seeing INXS in concert and meeting them too in September of 1997. The nicest guys in the whole world. How often is it that you meet your alltime favourite idols, and you're worried about your insurmountable expectations you put on them to be the coolest guys ever, and then actually have them be even cooler than that? Cal Those of us in Southern California are about to lose our third INXS playing radio station in as many years to the ever growing Spanish language market. I won't go into how obnoxious I find this trend, but for those who are interested in listening to music played in the language which is the only one most Americans understand, you can help bring channel 103.1 to the Internet. Please take a moment to go to wwwchannel1031.com to fill out the petition to bring World Class Rock to the Internet, making it available worldwide. This station has played a truckload of INXS music from the day they went on the air. Please support their efforts to bring this music to the Internet, and to persuade their owners, Clear Channel, to do so. The day may come when the only music we want to hear is on the Internet, if the Southern California radio market is any indication of the way in which radio is progressing in this country. I can not believe this is happening, but it most certainly is. By the way, for those in the LA area - I am running out of stations to program to my pre set buttons. There are so very many fans who are aching to see and tape this episode, so please make sure that this time, some stupid BTM that has been aired 100 times already, doesn't replace it. Also, just to let you know, the description under the M.H. page on your internet site tells about "No Doubt," not Michael Hutchence. Could that be corrected? We Michael Hutchence/INXS fans are beginning to wonder about VH1..........is there some sort of prejudice against INXS or Michael, or is it against Australians, or maybe it is a judgemental thing against Michael? I can't imagine why VH1 would spend all that money to make the episode and then refuse to air it. What's wrong with this picture? Hopefully, they will get my point!!!! Anyway, ......I have seen this episode about Michael, and it is a positive thing, not negative. The family members are even interviewed. I know they talk to Kell, Patricia and Rhett. I can't remember if they talk interview Tina or not, I'd have to watch my tape, again. If it ends up not being shown, I am going to see if I can find someone who will copy video tapes for me, and I can then get copies made for anyone who is interested in getting one from me. Kylie has also made it to Number One on the Oz charts with 'Spinning Around'. The significant thing about this is that she is one of those "rare" artists that has had a number one hit in three different decades. Her first was in 1988 with 'I should be so lucky', and in 1998 with 'Confide in Me' (I think that was the one that went all the way....). I didn't mention it at the time as I was wondering if anyone else had heard it and would post it to the list or if our local radio station was just making up news as they couldn't afford thier own. I didn't hear it anywhere else and it wasn't mentioned on Radio one as far as I know, so I don't know where they got their story from. For any of you who have the maxi version of Inxs' "Don't loose your head" you will have noticed that Kylie has stolen the the intro of one of the remixes for her new song. Have any of you picked it up yet?If you have that single have a listen and let me know what you think.Kylie starts off her song with the exact sample that Inxs uses on that single. -----Original Message----- From: Natty Nats To: Multiple recipients of INXS-List Date: 28 June 2000 01:53 Subject: INXS: Re: (NIC) Kylie "bounces" back >Jay Rawding wrote: >>Former ``Neighbours'' soap star Kylie Minogue stormed back into the >> >British charts at number one on Sunday with a high-energy disco >stomper. >> >>Twelve years after she first hit the music headlines in Britain with >`I >>Should Be So Lucky,' the Australian native returned to knock Black >Legend >>off the top spot with the funky `Spinning Around.' > >Kylie has also made it to Number One on the Oz charts with 'Spinning >Around'. If anyone would like to trade, and you have something which is not on the list below, please email me privately (unless I have recently contacted you). Please note that I can only accept trades at this moment. In the very near future I'll try to accommodate those that have not much to trade but still want a copy of this show. I can record on cdrs to make perfect copies. If you have something I need but cannot copy onto cdrs, audio cassettes are fine. Also, I will trade these 2cdrs for one videotape of something I may need. I won't send the jewel cases, since they break during travel most of the time anyway, and it saves quite a bit on postage. The cds actually travel fine, as long as they are wrapped in paper or something tight and in a bubble envelope But if you really want to send cases, let me know. I live in the USA, please let me know what country you are in if elsewhere. Especially if you are in outer space. Again, I can't do "blanks+postage" at the moment, but I will post again when I can, so please be patient. Also, nothing is for sale. Not even for sex. (My wife made me say that!).
